DoodyCalls and Sittin’ Pretty Pet Salon Sponsor Dog Wash to Support Stafford Area K-9 Police Units

WHAT:            DoodyCalls, a new professional pooper scooper service serving the Stafford, Virginia area, and Sittin’ Pretty Pet Salon are hosting a charity dog wash to benefit the local chapter of the K-9 Police Foundation.

WHEN:            Sunday, June 7, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

WHERE:         Sittin’ Pretty Pet Salon located at 711 Garrisonville Road, Stafford, Va. 22554

WHY:               Money raised at the charity dog wash is going toward the purchase of custom-fitted, stab and bullet-proof vests. These vests are costly and police departments have limited budgets. K-9 unit dogs put their lives at risk; they need protection just as much as human officers do.

WHO:              Shannon and Ron Cooper, local DoodyCalls owners, Kathy & Doug Shirley, owners of Sittin’ Pretty Pet Salon, and local representatives of the K-9 Police Foundation.

VISUALS:        In-studio guests and/or day of event:

  • Local Groomers washing their dogs in dog wash stations, including shampooing, blow drying etc.
  • Local K-9 units can demonstrate dog tricks and educate on the importance of providing protection for K-9 police units.
  • Food and silent auction for pet services; micro-chipping dogs to prevent them from ever getting lost
  • Child identification packets sold at $10 for first child, $5 for additional children in family

ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Community members may purchase tickets to use the dog wash. For dogs weighing 15 pounds or less, the cost is $10. Dogs weighing 15 pounds or less $15, 45 or less $20, 75 lbs or less $25, and dogs weighing more than 75 pounds cost $30

Tokens also may be purchased in advance beginning today through June 6, 2009, by calling Shannon or Ron Cooper at (540) 424-4371 or email staffordva@doodycalls.com.  Or at Sittin Pretty Pet Salon

The Police K-9 Foundation was founded in 2003 by New York Police Detective George Sichler and his wife Audra, who also own a DoodyCalls franchise.  They have equipped more than 50 police dogs nationwide with vests.
